Mom's Mac and Cheese (6 servings)
45 min prep + cook time
Ingredients:
1 lb pasta
3/4 block of Vermont Sharp Cracker Barrel cheese shredded
1/2 lb white American cheese ripped up into small pieces
1 cup half and half
1/4 cup bread crumbs
4 tbsp flour
4 tbsp butter
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bring water to boil and cook pasta to recommended al dente time. In separate pot, melt butter and mix in flour until bubbly. Pour in half and half and whisk until fully incorporated. Add cheese in 4 parts so melting occurs slowly and cheese sauce stays liquidy. Add paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place cooked pasta and cheese sauce in baking pan and top with bread crumbs. Bake for 25 minutes and broil for 5 to crisp top layer.
